    Established in 1977 as the American Bicycle Association, USA BMX was formed after the consolidation of the ABA and NBL racing sanctions. Sanctioning over 12,000 races each year, USA BMX is the world's largest BMX racing organization. USA BMX hosts over 30 National Series Events to promote the Olympic Sport of BMX racing nationwide. With over 70,000 members at 320+ tracks in North America, it is the duty of the ABA to establish the rules of racing that provide fair competition and fun family entertainment for members. This is a mission to which all of USA BMX: The American Bicycle Association and employees are 100% dedicated. We are looking for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our team.

     

    How The Position Will Make an Impact – Senior Staff Accountant makes an impact by supporting a variety of other accounting work in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles consistent with established organizational policies and procedures on a flexible work schedule. The Senior Accountant also assists the Controller in other departmental work as assigned and reports directly to the Controller.

     

    Focus will be on the following responsibilities:

    ASSIST WITH MONTH-END CLOSE AND RECONCILIATIONS

    • Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger.
    • Assist with the month-end closing process, maintaining the general ledger through monthly journal entries and scheduled reconciliation of GL accounts.
    • Assist in the preparation and distribution of monthly financial statement review packages with variance explanations against budget and prior year.
    • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are prepared and reviewed.
    • Assist in the reconciliation of tax payments across multiple states.

    MANAGE FINANCIAL ANALYSES, BUDGETING, AND REPORTING

    • Work with other accounting departments (A/R, A/P), to coordinate GL coding and ensure accuracy.
    • Provide audit support through the generation of timely, accurate schedules and documents.
    • Create and maintain adequate and appropriate procedural documentation.
    • Assist with internal controls compliance and reporting.
    • Manage fixed assets including capitalizations, disposals, monthly depreciation, federal depreciation, and research appropriate accounting treatment of complex transactions related to fixed assets.
    • Other duties may be assigned.

     

    What You Will Bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
    • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
    • 3-5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
    • Practical knowledge of accounting standards (i.e., GAAP).
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically, intermediate to advanced excel skills.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite.
    • Knowledge of ERP Accounting software.
    • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Previous knowledge of the sport of BMX is a plus but not necessary.

     

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    • Must be willing and able to work outside the normal 8:00 – 5:00 Monday – Friday workday hours on occasion (not often) and comfortable with a flexible work schedule.
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a car.
    • Must be able to comfortably lift 25 pounds.
