    MINISTRY POSITION

    Position Title: Director of Communications

    Department: Communications

    Classification: Salary - Exempt

    Direct Report: Senior Pastor

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Director of Communications manages the church’s image and message through excellence and effectiveness in branding, design services, marketing, online presence, and other strategic means. The successful candidate must possess excellent leadership qualities, written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to maximize the talents of their team.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Develop and propose effective marketing and communication strategies for First Baptist Atlanta while also identifying target audiences

    2. Work with the team to develop all digital, social, video, audio, and print content

    3. Build brand awareness, including positioning, and set guidelines to maintain the brand standard

    4. Utilize search engine optimization, Google Analytics, and social and digital platforms to expand FBA’s audience and reach

    5. Oversee, track, analyze, and report on the performance of the website and social media

    6. Provide oversight and direction for contractors and vendors

    7. Recruit and train a volunteer team to assist with photography and livestream monitoring

    8. Oversee all legal aspects of communications such as copyrights, waivers, permissions, and contracts. Establish protocols for direct reports that include clearly defined expectations, a consistent standard of accountability, and an annual employee review of job performance

    9. Cultivate a disposition of attentiveness, courtesy, and promptness among Communications team members in their responses to requests, replies to inquiries, follow-up on client satisfaction, and all personal interactions, including phone calls, physical and electronic correspondence, and in-person conversations

    10. Establish annual goals for increasing effectiveness in all areas of communications

    11. Provide team members with training opportunities and other resources for each team member’s personal, professional, and spiritual development

    12. Maintain familiarity with trends and developments in the fields of specialization pertinent to the purpose and functions of Church Communications

    13. Explore and pursue professional associations and networks among other churches and corporations for collaborative enrichment in communications methodologies

    14. Prepare the annual Communications departmental budget

    Qualifications

    1. Must have a growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ
    2. Must align with the beliefs, values, and mission of First Baptist Atlanta
    3. Must be an effective manager of individual employees and teams
    4. Must be adept at oral and written communication, capable of making effective presentations, and able to professionally interact with all FBA staff members
    5. Must be accessible at all times for addressing emergencies that may arise
    6. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related study
    7. Minimum 10 years’ experience.
    8. Minimum 3 years’ experience leading and managing a team
    9. Robust copywriting and editing skills
    10. Strong knowledge of graphic design, digital media, videography/photography, and editing skills
    11. Extensive knowledge of social and digital platforms, Google analytics, and search engine optimization.
    12. Experience in website design and development
    13. Effective problem analysis and resolution skills
    14. Ability to be flexible, organized, and set/shift priorities while meeting deadlines
    15. Ability to develop, plan, and implement ministry short and long range goals, as well as interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
