    MINISTRY POSITION

    Position Title: Pastor, Young Adults

    Department: Discipleship

    Classification: Salary - Exempt

    Direct Report: Discipleship Pastor

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Young Adults Pastor will facilitate growth, both spiritually and numerically, in the young adult membership of FBA through discipleship, programming, and relationship building.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Develops relationships with the existing volunteers, teachers, and members of the young adult classes at FBA.

    Continually finds ways to develop relationships with young professionals and couples and to engage them with the gospel.

    Work with the Discipleship Pastor to develop a vision and strategy for the Young Adults department.

    Disciple young adults individually and in small group model.

    Recruit, train, and lead volunteers within the Young Adult ministry.

    Research and make recommendations on local, national, and international missions’ opportunities.

    Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive discipleship plan within the Young Adults ministry that fits with the overall discipleship plan of FBA.

    Organize, plan, and execute Sunday school for the Young Adults.

    Organize additional, possibly off-site discipleship and worship programming.

    Plan, execute and supervise 6-12 special events each year for the purposes of fellowship, discipleship, and outreach.

    Participate in church-wide programming initiatives.

    Operate as a member of the Adult Discipleship team, participating in the meetings and activities thereof.

    Develop curriculum and studies to promote evangelism, discipleship, and service.

    Prepare and oversee annual ministry budgets.

    Perform other duties as ministry necessitates.

    Qualifications

    Candidate must have a growing & mature, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

    A current church member of FBA or enrolled in First Class and willing to become a member of FBA within the first three months of employment.

    Bachelor’s degree required in a ministerial, theological, or educational discipline, M.Div. preferred.

    High level of interpersonal skills associated with an extraordinary commitment to responsiveness and service to members.

    A team player with the ability to cultivate a team spirit within the department and the Church.

    Ability to be flexible with a sense of urgency to shift priorities to meet departmental requirements.

    Open to leading and participating in activities outside of normal office hours.

    Ability to develop, plan, and implement Ministry and Church related short and long-range goals, as well as to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel).

    Willingness to learn any additional software programs utilized by the church.

    Agrees to abide by First Baptist Atlanta and Family Ministries social media Policy.

    Must align with the beliefs, values and mission of First Baptist Atlanta.

    This includes a commitment to abstain from alcohol, tobacco and recreational drugs.
