Facilities Specialist
Role Overview
The primary responsibility of a Facilities Technician is to work alongside the facilities team, providing support and expertise in the care and maintenance of FBW facilities and fixed assets, contributing to the First Baptist Wylie’s high-performance culture and mission to “Spread God’s Fame by making Disciples of all people”. The Facilities Technician reports to the Campus and Technology Director.
Job Classification
Full-time 40-hours per week.
Schedule
Monday through Thursday 8AM to 5PM
Occasional Wednesday Nights
Alternate Fridays, Saturday, and Sundays
As needed for ministry events and community outreach.
Responsibilities and Expectations
Conduct planned and unplanned maintenance. This includes, but is not limited to:
HVAC
Plumbing
Electrical
Security
Environmental
Safety
Custodial
Event Coordination
Landscaping
Vehicle maintenance, registration, and repairs
Perform maintenance requests and facility repairs within the scope of the facility team’s expertise and ability.
Coordinate resources.
Implement set-up and take down of furniture and equipment for a wide variety of campus and community events.
Install fixtures.
Identify and escalate needs that go beyond the expertise and ability of the facility team.
Represent the church with service providers, vendors, and contractors.
Manage thermostats according to facility schedules.
Operate power equipment, carpet extractor, pressure washer, hand or power tools, and campus vehicles with care and safety.
Secure building access when FBW facilities are not in use.
Steward church resources with care, such as furniture, fixtures, equipment, supplies, and other resources.
Weekly attendance to a worship service is expected.
Weekly attendance to staff meetings, facilities team meetings and other meetings as needed.
Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families.
Partner with facilities team to discuss strategy and effectiveness to execute the overall vision and mission of the church.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills

Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
A high school diploma or similar designation.
A valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) preferable.
HVAC experience is a plus.
CDL license is a plus.
The ability to work in elevated locations, including ladders and facility rooftops.
The ability to organize, direct and supervise the work of others.
The ability to evaluate, repair, and remodel structures.
The ability to withstand the physical demands of outside work environment at times
Ability to lifting, carry, pull, and push object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to reaching overhead, horizontally and above the shoulders.
The ability to handle moderate stress levels.
Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
Flexibility to serve where needed.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Ability to troubleshoot and multitask.
FBW church membership is expected.
Ability to speak, read and write English.
Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
Ability to walk, stand and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time required.
Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks required.
