HOW WILL THIS ROLE IMPACT FIRST COMMAND?

The Enterprise Architect – Digital Banking is a critical role reporting to the Vice President of Enterprise Architecture in the BIS organization. This role will partner and dotted-line report to Bank CTO to lead the digital transformation for the First Command Bank. This role must have an understand of the current wealth and banking trends in the market and where the industry is heading from a technological perspective and help in enabling First Command Bank’s Vision and Future State Strategy.

Enterprise Architect will promote an enterprise thinking across various stakeholder groups by adopting a client centric approach for delivering banking transformation. This role is expected to understand our current banking operations and technology footprint and will define an architecture strategy & approach to transform to a digital bank. This role will need to possess the acumen to evaluate key strategic choices and develop scenarios for economic evaluation.

Expected to establish open lines of communication across teams and partner with key stakeholders at the portfolio and program level to drive digital transformation for the bank. Partners with solution architecture, integration, data and agile delivery teams to establish standards and best practices that support delivery of banking solutions.

WHAT WILL THE EMPLOYEE DO IN THIS ROLE?

• In this role you will: Provide technical leadership and expertise in digital banking, pioneering banking transformation across business, operations, and technology. Evangelize growth and eminence of Banking by supporting technical thought leadership, and practice development activities.

• Responsible for designing, supporting and assisting in the implementation of the infrastructure needed for future state digital FCB

• Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to support banks growth objectives. Documents and maintains all the solution architecture related artifacts related to banking solutions

• Perform application portfolio management relevant to banking applications and technologies

• Proactively engage with banking operations, and seek opportunities for improvement and business process automation

• Partner with agile delivery teams to guide and mentor best practices related to delivering banking solutions.

• Proactively engage in compliance & regulatory activities to mitigate any audit situations

• Support integration strategy, data strategy, planning, design, and non-functional requirements

• Partner with fellow architects and champion the prioritization and execution of enterprise level technology components and ensure they are readily available for the solutions to consume

• Create and maintain the foundational architecture for designing the future state digital banking ecosystem

• Establishes architecture definition and direction within First Command Bank domain to align with business needs, business strategies and First Command’s Technology strategy

• Collaborates with business, engineering, product management and other key stakeholders across First Command Bank and First Command Financial Services to drive strategic analysis and high level design of platform(s) to enable client centric solution delivery

WHAT SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS DO YOU NEED?

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience is required

WORK EXPERIENCE

• 12-15 years of progressive experience in a technology environment, especially in application development

• 7-10 years of experience working with banking systems analysis and design

• 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role (team lead, etc.)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• The successful candidate will have deep architect experience with large enterprises on Banking & Technology Strategy.
• Will be an accomplished core banking & payments independent software vendor (ISV) technical SME and drive FCB’s consistent growth by bringing to the table your technical banking skills.
• Specialized in Digital Transformation, Optimization, Workflows, Banking Operations, Banking Services Operating Model, and end-to-end processing
• Experience in core banking progressive modernization of existing cores in an architect capacity (FIS Profile, Fiserv, Jack Henry etc.)
• Ability to design major architectural aspects of an application covering all areas of architectural domains (Application, middleware/services, data, infrastructure, and Cloud)
• 5+ years of current technical market trends, including Cloud, Cognitive, Digital, Microservices / APIs+ Strong knowledge and experience across Deposits, Lending, Payments and/or Wealth domains
• Self-motivated with strong sense of accountability, initiative, and the ability to work collaboratively to attain results that meet the business needs
• Strong understanding of network, computing infrastructure, software, and application development environments
• Ability to manage the multiple facets of a project from staffing considerations, planning the project, allocation of resources, management of time and resources
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills required
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
