    POSITION SUMMARY 

    The primary function of this position is to support and facilitate the Accounting/Finance side of the organization’s contract management compliance and assure costs are properly classified and recorded.  The primary responsibility will be to review and monitor a portfolio of PCORI awards. The position will perform financial analysis and reporting function in order to manage all PCORI research award portfolios from inception to completion. Day to day operation includes general ledger accounting, financial account reconciliation and analytical review and financial reporting.  This position will review research invoices, prepare variance analytical reports, and support internal and external stakeholders’ interest.  Must be able to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

    Compliance responsibilities:

    • Monitor financial compliance of an assigned portfolio of PCORI Awards.
    • Review award invoices to assure expenses charged against contract are in compliance with terms and conditions.
    • Assure direct and indirect costs are allowable.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and respective legislative regulations. 
    • Work closely with Contracts Management Administrators in managing, tracking, monitoring, and reporting financial data as requested. 
    • Maintain contract management system for all contracts.
    • Maintains and updates related financial spreadsheets and databases, ans produce reports as required.

     

    Associated accounting responsibilities:

    • For assigned portfolio ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and recording expenses to the general ledger.
    • Code all invoices and expenses to the proper account, program and project.
    • Prepare month end accruals for assigned portfolio and follow up on outstanding invoices.
    • Prepare project reports on a regular and ad hoc basis.

     

     

    Financial analysis responsibilities:

    • Serve financial liaison to assigned PCORI departments.
    • Compile reporting and analysis of monthly results for assigned departments.
    • Provide summarized analysis of monthly, quarterly and year-to-date results versus budget, forecast and prior year.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of business activities, as required, to ensure compliance to budget and review with department managers regularly.
    • Support annual budgeting process with assigned departments.
    • Lead the review of financial results with assigned departments.
    • Calculate and track key metrics / KPI's supporting the financial results and prepare related analysis.
    • Perform other ad hoc analysis as required.

    Required Skills

    • Knowledge of general accepted accounting practices a plus. 
    • Ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines while working with multiple departments. 
    • Must be very detailed oriented and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. 
    • Proactively identify tasks and provide status updates to management.
    • Proficiency with general ledger accounting systems, Excel, Word and Power Point.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred
    • 3-5 years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting
    • Strong contract experience (especially government contracts or cost reimbursable contracts) a MUST.
    • Non-profit and / or foundation experience a plus.
