    ABOUT FIRST METHODIST MANSFIELD

    First Methodist Church Mansfield (FMCM) is located in Mansfield, TX, a beautiful suburban city in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area with a population of 70,000. With a rich history of over 100 years, FMCM (pre-covid) worships over 2,000 weekly with post-covid worship being 50% online. The church is centered in their mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, love others and serve the world.


    ABOUT THE STUDENT DIRECTOR/PASTOR ROLE

    The Student Ministry Pastor/Director will lead all aspects of Student Ministry, including weekly preaching, student discipleship, equipping volunteer leaders, evangelism, engagement with parents, and more. With 6 (5A to 6A) High Schools in Mansfield, this role will provide spiritual leadership to the next generation by equipping and discipling students in their formative years so that their faith will be strengthened and serve as a foundation for the rest of their lives.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Build and develop a discipleship model for students, including small groups
    • Develop and lead Student Ministry staff (3 to 5) in spiritual and professional development
    • Equip and train volunteer leaders for effective ministry within Student Ministry
    • Identify and develop new volunteer leaders for Student Ministry, as needed
    • Connect new students to small groups
    • Create and develop weekly programmed ministry nights (Sunday & Wednesday nights)
    • Communicate God’s Word accurately and in a compelling way that impacts students
    • Help leaders and students grow in their walk with Christ through weekly intentional discipleship
    • Build a network of supportive and engaged parents
    • Oversee all Student special events throughout the year, including United Missions Week (Annual summer local missions event)
    • Be a part of the Leadership Team at FMCM
    • Oversee and implement a high-quality Student worship environment in partnership with the Contemporary Worship Arts Director
    • Lead the FMCM Student Team in following all church processes and guidelines (Community Church Builder, Safe Sanctuary, etc.)
    • Be a part of the joint FMCM Family Life Ministry Leadership Team (Children’s, Special Needs, and Students)
    • Potentially lead and implement a regular college ministry at FMCM, depending on gifting and desire
    • Other duties as assigned

    Education and Work Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years experience in evangelical ministry preferred
    • 3+ years experience in Student Ministry preferred
    • Successful demonstration that the candidate has built or grown a Student Ministry in a church or para-church preferred
    • Ability to lead and develop staff

    • Strong relationship builder
    • Dynamic on stage/comfortable being up front
    • Strong Bible knowledge
    • Can Biblically teach on tough topics to students
    • Displays a love for students with a desire to meet them where they are in their life experience and can introduce them to the life-changing love of Jesus Christ
    • Be active and present in the local community
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday. Flexible work hours outside of Sunday mornings, Sunday evening Student Ministry (Jr. High & High School), and Wednesday evening Impact (5th & 6th grade)
