    Job Description

    SUMMARY OF POSITION The Communications Administrator has the responsibility to develop print and electronic communication materials, to promote the Church through external publications and social media platforms, to coordinate the Church’s calendar of events, and to assist with general administrative tasks as needed.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

    • Create and edit content for the Church’s publications (such as monthly newsletters and weekly e-blasts)
    • Design and lay out content for publications
    • Create bulletins for Sunday worship and special services
    • Manage Cloud-based calendar for Church-related meetings and publicity submissions
    • Update the Church’s calendar of events
    • Partner with staff and teams on communications fostering the congregational community of care
    • Assist with administrative tasks as needed

    EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

    • Create press releases and other communications for print media
    • Develop and implement strategy for creative use of social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
    • Update website with Church publications, sermons, and bulletins
    • Partner with staff and teams on development of strategies for outreach to the community

    JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer software and social media platforms
    • Conceptualizes work as a ministry and verbalizes the function of the job as ministry
    • Self-starter who uses excellent judgment and functions with a high level of independence
    • Skillful collaborator and communicator who practices and fosters effective communication throughout the Church

    HOURS AND COMPENSATION

    • The Communications Administrator is a part-time (20 hours per week), non-exempt position subject to the guidelines in the Personnel Handbook and other Church policies.
    • The rate of pay is negotiable.
