    Job Description

     

    PURPOSE OF ROLE

    The HR Coordinator role is responsible for supporting the overall operation of the Human Resources Department through various initiatives. This role administers the company’s leave of absence program by responding to requests and questions regarding leaves of absence. The HR Coordinator also supports the department by handling general email questions and requests.

    SPECIFIC JOB DESCRIPTION

    · Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any               documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.

    · Handles the leave administration process from the employee’s initial request for leave through to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining eligibility, designating leave type, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent leave use.

    · Communicates leave decisions and on-going expectations with employees.

    · Maintains the return to work process for employees returning from all types of leave.

    · Facilitates leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.

    · Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulations.

    · Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests.

    · Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.

    · Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.

    · Monitors and maintains department email inbox, responding to questions and requests as necessary.

    · Performs other duties as assigned.

    TYPICAL MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE; KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

    · 2+ years of Human Resources experience

    · Knowledge of leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA and other applicable laws

     . Specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration is a plus

    · Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties

    · Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills

    · Strong attention to detail
