    Job Description

    We are currently seeking high quality Purchasing/Sales Support professionals to assist FirstKem sales of industrial, aerospace and safety products.

    In this Purchasing/Sales Support role at FirstKem, you will be working with a portfolio that includes such products as high-quality abrasives, tapes, films, adhesives, chemicals and specialty materials for the manufacture, repair and maintenance of aircraft, ships, and other manufacturing processes. In addition to supporting the sales team, you will represent a myriad of innovative products and services that help companies improve their businesses locally and across the globe.

    As Purchasing/Sales Support, you will be responsible to:

    ·         Support sales team with requested information, pricing, lead times, etc.

    ·         Negotiate credit terms and freight terms.

    ·         Understand and achieve inventory targets and objectives.

    ·         Purchase materials for resale as well as office use.

    ·         Source and solicit multiple vendors for the same product.

    ·         Understand customer processes and assist them with their needs.

    ·         Work with FirstKem sales representatives and customer specifications to help find the product that meets the customer’s needs.

    ·         Understand distributor business strategy.

    ·         Develop strong relationships and influence vendor and customer accounts.

    ·         Processing orders through the ERP system.

    • Handle customer service calls as needed.

    ·         Accurate & timely response to customer inquiries and requests

    ·         Communicate on a regular basis with internal & external customers.

    ·         Set and meet all turnaround expectations for transactions.

    ·         Audit all orders and documentation to ensure profitability and accuracy.

    ·         Maintain a current level of product, program and policy knowledge.

    ·         Develop purchasing policies to support company performance targets and long-term goals.

    ·         Direct the purchasing department in the implementation of these policies to ensure that the highest quality components are obtained at the lowest total cost.

    ·         Develop sourcing strategies for new and existing products.

    ·         Prepare requests for quotation, evaluate suppliers and negotiate supply agreements as appropriate.

    ·         Ensure that suppliers meet all required Quality (ISO) standards.

    ·         Develop metrics to measure performance in key procurement areas and provide reports to management.

    ·         Drive continuous improvement projects and initiatives to improve performance in overall supply costs, service level and quality.

    ·         Oversee a robust supplier management program to monitor supplier performance in the areas of quality, service and cost.

    ·         Proactively manage the supply base to reduce risks and ensure continued supply of critical components to meet requirements.

    ·         Check status of PO’s and manage receipt of Order Acknowledgements from vendors.

    ·         Negotiate claims resulting from damaged or defective merchandise received from suppliers and customers

    ·         Keep all price lists up to date and maintain records of all pricing contracts with vendors.

    ·         Check status of back orders.

    ·         Investigate and resolve unusual delays in the receipt of merchandise.

    ·         Track product location with manufacturer or shipper.

    ·         When manufacturers cause delay, receive documentation and relay to sales.

    ·         Determine action to be taken on MDR’s and pursue them to completion in a timely manner.

    ·         Determine action to be taken on supplier delivery-related issues and pursue them to completion in a timely manner.

    ·         Set-up new vendors, and merchandise in computer system.

    ·         Process orders through the ERP system.

    ·         Understand customer business priorities.

    ·         Understand customer manufacturing processes.

    ·         Utilize solutions-based selling skills.

    ·         Manage business planning and execution process.

    ·         Understand government sales research sources.

    ·         Understand government branches, websites, codes and abbreviations.

    Successful candidates will meet or exceed in the following requirements:

    ·         Experience purchasing and servicing customers in the aerospace and industrial market arena.

    ·         Extensive customer and manufacturer relationships.
