POSITION: Management and Budget Consultant (THIS WILL REQUIRE FINANCIAL ANALYSIS EXPERIENCE AND INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED EXCEL SKILLS)
*IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE CONSTRUCTION OR COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.
REPORTS TO: Vice President
*LOCATION: THIS POSITION WILL MOSTLY BE REMOTE BUT WILL NEED TO BE LOCATED WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE TO IRVINE TO ATTEND TRAININGS AND MEETINGS.
SUMMARY: To be a consultant for clients of FirstService Association Consulting (FSAC) who
contract for Forward Planning and Department of Real Estate (DRE) Budget preparation services. The
Management and Budget Consultant will build and maintain excellent professional relationships with
clients and thereby contribute to the future growth of FSAC and ultimately FirstService Residential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proficient in the preparation of budgets for submittal to the DRE. Has full comprehension of various
budgeting methods and when it is appropriate to use each method. (Comprehensive training on the
BRE budget process will be provided as part of the onboarding plan).
- Demonstrates an ability to determine what analyses would be of benefit to a builder/developer and
is able to prepare accurate, comprehensive analyses with reasonable conclusions.
- Demonstrates an awareness of the importance of product presentation, quality and accuracy and
ensures that the finished product meets those standards set by FSAC.
- Attends and participates in forward planning and budget meetings with builders and their consultants
and follows up in a timely manner with correspondence, contracts, punchlists, meeting notes, etc.
- Takes the lead position on consulting files and coordinates meetings, meeting agenda, punchlists,
meeting notes, production of consulting materials, budget and analyses with other FSAC staff as
appropriate.
- Acts as a resource person for FirstService Residential (FSR).
- Assists with updates to FSAC reference library.
- Participates in marketing of new business by attendance at industry-related events, relationship
building with clients and entertaining, etc.
- Responsible for client satisfaction and building client relationships. Maintains contact with client
while work is in process and also initiates follow-up calls upon completion project.
- Attends forward planning meetings as requested/needed throughout the state of California.
- Advises clients and FSR Community Mangers on necessary revisions to Rules &
Regulations/Architectural Guidelines.
- Maintains contact with FSR and is current with regard to issues and programs affecting management
and the operation of homeowners associations so these issues can be addressed in the forward
planning stage.
- Works with FSAC administrative staff to prepare contracts and proposals.
- Maintains invoicing timesheets and ensures that complete and accurate information is provided for
invoice preparation.
- Maintains thorough notes on each file.
- Researches successfully implemented consulting materials in order to continuously improve FSAC
guidelines, procedures and forms.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None at this time.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook and Excel (in particular).
Good communicator in both written and verbal format.
Works as a team player, working collaboratively with clients, vendors and associates. In general,
enjoys all aspects of client service, both internally and externally.
Has an ability to handle multiple priorities and to work under strict deadlines.
Is detail oriented and achieves a high level of accuracy with work performed.
Follows quality system procedures.
Budget management of travel and marketing expenses
Ability to travel (vehicle, train, airplane, etc.) to the various regions that FirstService Association
Consulting is or is contemplating doing business.
The associate must have access to and consistent use of a vehicle for transportation to client
meetings, industry events, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Finance background is required and previous experience in
the community management or building industry is ideal.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Successful candidate will have ability to communicate with various audience
types, including the FSR Senior Leadership Team.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Excellent general math skills. Successful candidates must be proficient
with Excel.
REASONING ABILITY: Excellent reasoning ability.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid California driver’s license, state-mandated vehicle insurance.

Must be able to lift 25lbs.
Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.

Must be able to do air flight travel
