Overview:
Abacus is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fiscal Service Officer to manage and oversee financial operations in compliance with state regulations and departmental policies. This critical role supports the agency’s mission by ensuring accurate fiscal reporting, managing budgets, and supervising financial procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, and procurement functions.
Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports to leadership and government agencies.
Ensure compliance with all applicable financial regulations, procedures, and state auditing standards.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and enhance fiscal efficiency.
Supervise a team of fiscal and accounting staff; provide training, performance evaluations, and support.
Collaborate with administrative and operations teams to develop fiscal strategies and forecasts.
Respond to audit inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Coordinate fiscal year-end closing procedures and financial statement preparation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 2-5 years of progressively responsible financial or budget management experience.
Strong understanding of accounting and fiscal policies.
Proficiency in financial software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Experience in a public sector or transportation-related agency
