Job Summary
The Fitness Advisor is responsible for evaluating, developing, and overseeing individualized fitness, exercise, and wellness programs for senior members. This contract-to-hire role conducts fitness assessments, monitors member progress, and educates members on the importance of physical activity to promote long-term health, mobility, and overall wellness.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct interviews and fitness assessments to evaluate members’ physical condition and determine appropriate exercise programs on an individual basis
Create and maintain member charts, documenting medical history, injuries, limitations, and physical readiness
Develop, implement, and recommend safe and effective exercise plans tailored to senior members
Educate and motivate members on physical self-awareness, injury prevention, and wellness goals
Monitor members during exercise activities to ensure proper technique and safety
Track and assess member progress, modifying exercise plans as needed to support fitness goals
Teach and lead fitness and wellness classes designed for senior populations
Perform additional duties as assigned to support program and facility operations
Minimum Required Education, Experience & Skills
High School Diploma or GED
CPR and AED certification (or ability to obtain within one month of hire)
Minimum of two (2) years of personal training experience
Nationally recognized Personal Trainer certification
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
Three (3) or more years of fitness-related experience working specifically with seniors
Group Fitness Certification through AFAA, ACE, or equivalent
Minimum of two (2) years of group exercise instruction experience
Physical & Mental Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to push or pull objects requiring up to 50 pounds of force
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and fitness machinery
Ability to receive, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions
Ability to apply logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
