We are currently seeking a compassionate and energetic Fitness Assistant to support our wellness programs and help our residents stay active and engaged.

    The Fitness Assistant will work under the direction of the Director of Resident Engagement to assist with daily operations and facilitate safe, enjoyable, and effective exercise programs for senior residents. This position requires a working knowledge of health and fitness principles, as well as certifications appropriate for working with the aging population. You will serve as a positive role model of wellness for residents.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Assist with daily operations and maintenance of the Fitness Center, pool, and Village Fitness Room.

    2. Collaborate with the fitness team to develop, promote, and implement evidence-informed exercise programs.

    3. Coordinate and prepare monthly fitness calendars to promote programs within and outside the fitness center, both on and off campus.

    4. Coordinate staff and contractor fitness instructor scheduling, track requests for instructor time off, and substitution coverage.

    5. Continuously communicate with residents using the Community APP and hard copy materials, including but not limited to monthly fitness calendars, schedule changes, and regular fitness updates.

    6. Apply fitness instruction and motivation techniques, coaching skills, and leadership strategies to independently deliver safe, effective, and enjoyable group exercise experiences for residents

    7. Prepare the necessary equipment, music, and information for each class as needed, and ensure that classes begin and end on time. Adequately provide modifications, answer questions, and maintain a positive experience for class participants.

    8. Educate residents on fitness and health-related topics, within appropriate scope of practice, providing motivation and encouragement for all aspects of wellness.

    9. Assists with conducting fitness center and equipment orientation for new and current residents and employees as needed. Ensure that safety standards are met and that department and facility policies are adhered to.

    Qualifications

    - Must be at least 18 years of age.

    - Minimum associate degree in related field preferred and/or appropriate fitness certification accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)

    - Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required.

    - Valid State driver's license and clean driving record.

    - One year of experience and demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide services to and communicate with the primarily elderly population.

    - Working foundational knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, training principles, and chronic conditions.

    - Availability for weekend hours may be required.
