  • Responsibilities

    General Purpose

    The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning, leading, and instructing safe and effective group fitness classes for participants of various ages and fitness levels.

    Reporting Relationships

    Supervision Received: The Fitness Instructor works under the general supervision of the MRAC Front Desk Manager

    Supervision Exercised: N/A

    Essential Functions

    • Plan, create, and lead original group fitness classes in alignment with current fitness trends and participant needs.
    • Demonstrate proper technique and form to ensure participant safety and effectiveness.
    • Provide modifications and progressions to accommodate varying fitness levels and physical abilities.
    • Foster a motivating and inclusive environment that encourages regular participation and community.
    • Set up and clean up equipment before and after class sessions.
    • Communicate regularly with participants and respond to questions or concerns.
    • Maintain punctuality and reliability for scheduled classes.
    • Enforce all facility rules and safety regulations.
    • Report any incidents, injuries, or equipment issues to the MRAC Front Desk Manager.
    • Stay up to date on industry standards and maintain any required certifications.

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent, and
    • Prior experience teaching group fitness classes, or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to adapt class structure to suit a range of participants abilities.
    • Passion for health, wellness, and community engagement.
    • Ability to demonstrate physical fitness movements and lead extended periods of physical activity.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    This position normally works in a safe, climate-controlled environment. The environment may be loud, active, and fast paced. Tasks may entail muscular strain, including walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to performing job requirements. Common eye, hand and finger dexterity is required for most essential functions.

    Selection Guidelines

    A formal application and résumé is required. Finalists will interview with the appropriate hiring authority. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check, and upon employment, must possess a valid Utah driver's license.
