    Job Description

    SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Supervisor will ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are developed and maintained; ensure personnel are trained to follow GMPs and SOPs, and ensure food safety procedures are implemented, practiced and documented.

    JOB TASKS/DUTIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE):

    • Maintain ongoing files for nutritional information and ingredient Certification of Analyses.

    • Maintain organized filing system to ensure all information is readily available at any time to support company needs.

    • Work closely with production personnel to identify problems and corrective actions.

    • Responsible for oversight, assistance and review of all quality audits performed by external parties.

    • Implement and manage Validation and Verification activities towards the Food Safety and Quality programs.

    • Ensure that company product “hold” policies and procedures are communicated to plant staff and that the plant adheres to the procedures.  Recommends, as appropriate, the suspension of product or the release of product when quality standards are not achieved.

    • Participate in GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections throughout the production departments and correct or issues work orders to correct any identified deficiencies.  Follow up on work orders with the appropriate associates to ensure expeditious performance of the requested work.

    • Maintain the integrity of the SQF System

    • Ensure that product safety, quality and traceability protocols are in place for all products by ensuring appropriate controls are in place, including documentation. 

    • Ensure all employees follow GMP policies.

    • Identify weaknesses in Food Safety and Quality Systems and work to provide resolutions.

    • Responsible for Vendor/Supplier approval

    • Monitor vendors through nonconformance trends and external audits to ensure quality standards are met.

    • Manage all documentation, review and approve daily.

    • Sign the product release form

    • Manage and create all employees training on a routine schedule.

    • Ensure product specifications are met and production is consistent with approved product.

    • Verify and validate ongoing procedures for shipping and receiving quality inspections.

    • Verify that packaging department performs in accordance to specifications, that code dates are accurate, quantity and weights are verified and cleanliness is impeccable.

    • Manage Listeria Program. Ensure that Listeria is not present in both the environment and product.

    • Communicate effectively to management with a summary of activities on a weekly basis.

    • Oversee Sanitation Crew to ensure proper SSOP policies are being met.

    • Validate and re-evaluate the effectiveness of cleaning procedures.

    • Train the Sanitation Crew on a regular basis for proper techniques. Make sure that the sanitation schedule is strictly met.

    • Ensure that the entire facility is being strictly observed for proper sanitation, maintenance and GMP’s (i.e. parking lot, trash area, warehouse, freezers, employee lockers, etc.)

     

    QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    ·         BA in food science

    ·         Must have knowledge in Food Safety

    ·         Must be HACCP Certified

    ·         Must have SQF experience 

    ·         4+ years of experience in the food industry

    ·         Must have experience with  USDA/FDA

    ·         Must be flexible with schedule

    ·         Knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel
