Flatirons Medical Consultants is seeking BE/BC Physicians to bid through the Social Security Administration to provide Disability Case Reviews. Physicians must have worked in their respective specialty for three out of the last seven years or two years of Disability Case review experience with in the last five years. The Social Security Administration (SSA) utilizes licensed physicians, in several medical specialties such as: Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Osteopathy, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation,
Pain Medicine, General Practice, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology Otolaryngology, Nephrology/Hematology, Oncology, Anesthesiology, Allergy/Immunology, Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Psychiatry for medical consulting services. SSA also utilizes licensed psychologists and neuropsychologists for
medical consulting services.
Contractors shall assess and document impairment severity in SSA disability claims based on the listings of impairments in SSA's Program Operations Manual System (POMS). Contractors shall provide medical reviews as part of the Federal Quality Review Process under POMS sections
If selected, the physician will need to attend a paid classroom orientation for up to 80 hours, and up to 400 mentored case file reviews as part of the orientation process. Due to the possibility of an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, associated restrictions, and facility closures, the classroom orientation may be conducted virtually. This is non-patient care, doing disability case reviews for Social Security in Chicago.
This opportunity does require a provider to be in the Chicago SSA office no less than one 4-hour period per week, COVID Restrictions may supersede this requirement, all other time can be done remotely. Travel reimbursement is not authorized with this opportunity
