    SUMMARY

    We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Fleet Director to own the performance and future of our fleet and equipment operations in the San Antonio, TX area. As Director of Fleet & Equipment, you’ll oversee the maintenance, repair, capital planning, and strategic purchasing for a diverse and growing fleet of 200+ trucks (including diesel bucket trucks, split dump trucks, and pickups), 100+ wood chippers, and 30 forestry mulching machines. This is a highly visible leadership role where you’ll drive uptime, safety, and cost efficiency while leading internal and mobile maintenance teams.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and execute fleet and equipment strategy aligned with operational and financial goals
    • Establish standards for equipment selection, specifications, lifecycle, and replacement
    • Lead preventive maintenance and repair programs for trucks and forestry equipment
    • Manage internal shop operations and mobile mechanic teams
    • Reduce downtime through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement
    • Lead capital planning, budgeting, and strategic purchasing decisions
    • Manage vendor, OEM, and service provider relationships
    • Oversee warranty, rebuild programs, and major component replacements
    • Leverage fleet software and telematics to control costs and improve reliability
    • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, environmental, and safety standards
    • Oversee inspections, audits, and documentation
    • Support accident and equipment failure investigations
    • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Safety, and Procurement
    • Provide leadership reporting on fleet performance, costs, uptime, and risk

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 5+ years of fleet and equipment management experience (heavy diesel and hydraulic equipment preferred)
    • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and powertrain systems
    • Experience managing maintenance shops and/or mobile mechanic teams
    • Experience managing large, mixed fleets and specialty equipment
    • Proven success in capital planning, budgeting, and vendor negotiations
    • Experience with fleet management and maintenance tracking software
