    Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year Schedule: Nights and weekends required (Monday–Saturday coverage)

    Overview: We’re hiring an experienced fleet mechanic who can also manage a team of drivers. This is a hands-on role based near Birmingham servicing step vans and cutaway chassis, with supervisory responsibility for driver performance, and safety.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on step vans and cutaway chassis: brakes, oil changes, windshield wipers, seats, door/lock hardware, suspension, HVAC, fluids, and other common issues.

    Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including backup cameras, monitors, lighting, and wiring.

    Service/repair vehicles including Ford step vans (P1000, F-59, E-350, E-450 cutaway chassis) and Freightliner models (MT-45, MT-55).

    Diagnose faults using standard shop tools and diagnostic equipment; order parts and complete accurate repair documentation.

    Lead and manage a team of drivers: scheduling, coaching, enforcing safety and maintenance procedures, and coordinating driver-vehicle assignments.

    Perform or oversee after-hours and weekend repairs as needed; respond to urgent vehicle issues during scheduled shifts.

    Ensure compliance with DOT and company safety and maintenance standards; maintain accurate maintenance logs and vehicle records.

    Required Qualifications:

    Proven hands-on experience repairing step vans and cutaway chassis (Ford P1000, F-59, E-350/E-450; Freightliner MT-45/MT-55 required).

    Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills; experience with backup camera/monitor systems.

    Experience supervising or managing drivers or shop personnel.

    Valid driver’s license.

    Ability to work nights and weekend shifts (Monday–Saturday coverage).

    Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to document repairs and parts usage accurately.

    Preferred:

    ASE certification or equivalent fleet maintenance certifications.

    Experience with DOT inspections and fleet maintenance software.
