    Position Overview
    An Ambulance Mechanic is a specialized professional focused on ensuring the operational readiness and mechanical integrity of emergency medical vehicles. Unlike standard automotive mechanics, Ambulance Mechanics possess a unique skill set tailored to the complex requirements of EMS fleets. This includes maintaining both traditional vehicle systems and sophisticated life-saving equipment integrated into ambulances. Their work directly supports public safety by ensuring every vehicle is dependable and mission ready.

    As an Entry / Mid-Level Ambulance Fleet Mechanic at Professional Ambulance and Oxygen Service Inc., you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and general repairs on ambulances and support vehicles. During paid training time you will receive company-supported ASE and EVT certification training and a structured advancement path through our Technician Advancement Program.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services, including lubrication, tire and brake work, and safety inspections.
    • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and hydraulic systems on gasoline ambulances.
    • Ensure accurate parts inventory stock
    • Maintain accurate work orders, inspection logs, and fleet service records.
    • Collaborate with senior mechanics and the Fleet Services Director to prioritize workflow.
    • Uphold all safety and environmental standards in the shop.

    Qualifications
    • Vocational high school diploma or equivalent (GED); post-secondary automotive or diesel training preferred.
    • 1–3 years of hands-on automotive mechanical experience (fleet or heavy vehicle experience preferred).
    • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and a good driving record.
    • Basic hand and power tools required for preventive maintenance and repair.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude, safety focus, and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in varied environments.
