    Position Overview: Barr Transportation is seeking a dependable and motivated Fleet Technician to support the daily upkeep and readiness of our school bus fleet. This is an entry-level position focused on basic maintenance, inspections, and lot operations. No advanced mechanical experience is required, just a willingness to learn and take pride in your work.

    This role is a great opportunity for someone looking to get started in the transportation industry, with room for growth into driving and other positions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks including:

    Light bulb replacement

    Fluid checks and refills (oil, coolant, washer fluid, etc.)

    Minor seat repairs

    Conduct full visual and safety inspections of school buses

    Fuel buses and prepare them for daily routes and trips

    Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bus yard and facility

    Assist with general lot maintenance as needed

    Travel between company lots as needed

    Support maintenance and operations teams as required

    Report any mechanical or safety concerns promptly

    Perform additional duties as assigned and as needed

    Additional Opportunities:

    Opportunity for additional hours by becoming certified as a Bus Attendant to assist on special needs routes

    Once a CDL is obtained, additional hours may be available covering routes and trips

    Requirements:

    Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

    Ability to pass a background check (due to potential interaction with students)

    Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test

    Willingness and ability to obtain a CDL Class B with Passenger (P), School Bus (S), and Air Brake endorsements within a specified timeframe after hire

    Must be willing to travel between company lots as needed

    Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Reliable and punctual

    Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):

    Prior experience working with vehicles or equipment

    Experience in transportation or a school-related environment
