  • Responsibilities

    We are a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems. We are currently seeking an Electronics Engineer specializing in image sensors and ionizing radiation effects to join our multidisciplinary space imaging systems design team. As a member of our small team, you’ll be responsible for the design and development of analog, digital, and opto-electronic systems for use in science, commercial, and government applications on earth orbiting and interplanetary space missions.

    Candidates specializing in either structures/dynamics or thermal analysis and design will also be considered.

     

    Essential Functions

    Build mechanical finite element models and use to analyze against mission environmental requirements, including quasi-static loads, random vibration, and shock

    Design and execute tests as required to correlate/validate model parameters

    Perform analysis required to support force-limited random vibration tests

    Design dynamics test fixtures and coordinate as needed with outside test facilities

    Operate in-house vibration and shock test systems according to test plans, responsive to customer requirements

    Use analytical tools such as Excel, Matlab, or Python to process test data and generate test reports

    Build detailed thermal models with sufficient resolution of applied power and temperature rise to support electronics part stress analysis and optics thermal stress/performance analysis

    Build simplified thermal models to evaluate spacecraft thermal accommodations with both passive and active thermal control methods

    Analyze and evaluate complex mechanical structures and polymerics bonds

    Leads and/or participates in preliminary and critical design reviews

     

    Non-Essential Functions

    Perform other duties as required which may become essential functions.

     

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

    Aerospace background

    SolidWorks Simulation and PDM

    NASTRAN

    Thermal Desktop & SINDA

    Vibration and pyroshock test experience

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly explain technical issues and ideas to peers, management, and customer representatives

     

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to comprehend and communicate complex technical and engineering concepts. Must be able to remain in a stationary position while operating a computer for prolonged periods of time. Ability to work and move around in a cleanroom environment, wearing required outer garments including smock/coveralls, shoe covers, mask, hood and gloves. Moves in and around a lab space. Ability to handle high stress levels in connection with multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines. High tolerance for ambiguity and shifting expectations. Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload.
