That’s why we’re seeking a flexible, dependable Classroom Floater to join our staff and help bring consistency, care, and connection to our daily classroom routines.
Position Summary: The Classroom Floater plays a vital role in supporting classroom teachers and ensuring children experience a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment. This position offers variety, flexibility, and the opportunity to make an impact across different classrooms and age groups. As a Floater, you’ll assist with daily routines, offer hands-on help during activities, and bring a team-first attitude that strengthens our mission and community.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support
Assist with classroom routines such as transitions, snacks, cleanup, and supervision
Help prepare and maintain learning materials and classroom environments
Support age-appropriate educational and play activities
Provide guidance and care to children, including those with varying developmental needs
Be physically able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 50 lbs
Floating Assignments
Step into different classrooms as needed, supporting various age groups
Remain flexible and responsive to the center’s changing daily needs
Work collaboratively with teachers to maintain consistency across classrooms
Child Supervision & Safety
Ensure a safe, secure environment at all times
Monitor children's behavior and interactions; encourage kindness, cooperation, and positive conflict resolution
Report concerns or hazards promptly to center leadership
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate effectively with staff and administration about children’s needs and routines
Share observations or concerns regarding children’s well-being
Attend staff meetings and training sessions to stay current on procedures and policies
Compliance & Professionalism
Adhere to center policies, state licensing regulations, and health and safety protocols
Complete necessary training, background checks, and church safety requirements
Fulfill other duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the center
Qualifications:
High school diploma or North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (required)
Experience in a childcare or similar setting preferred
Understanding of early childhood development and classroom support
Flexible, reliable, and positive attitude with a heart for serving children
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Able to follow directions and maintain confidentiality
Must meet all background and screening requirements
