Title: Construction Estimator (Miami, FL)

Job Description:

Estimate construction costs including planning and scheduling on a variety of projects. Prepare competitive bid proposals and provide appropriate estimating and preconstruction services on Construction Management Projects.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare budgetary and final estimate bid proposals, ensuring that budgets, quotes, and proposals are accurate and completed with professional quality.
• Consult with clients, consultants and vendors to discuss project scope and formulate estimate issues.
• Read and study bid package documents to develop bid/trade scopes and ensure that all bids are prepared in a manner consistent with those documents, i.e. instructions to bidders, scope narratives, plans, specifications, etc.
• Track and document project design evolution and scope changes.
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, evaluate construction labor rates and subcontractor cost estimates and proposals.
• Review of project designs and engineering specifications for cost-effectiveness and provide suggestions for alternatives where applicable (Value Analysis / Value Engineering).
• Provide technical assistance in negotiating owner and subcontractor contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
• Manage subcontractor and material supplier bid lists and solicits subcontractor and material supplier bids.
• Contact subcontractors to assure complete sub coverage and knowledge of the sub's bid scope by bid due date.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and job visits.
• Contacts Operations Personnel to obtain their input and discuss bid strategy on specific projects.
• Review General/Special Conditions and Contract language of Project to be bid for acceptability with the company.
• Assist in conducting Precon Turnover Meetings with Operations Personnel upon project award.
• Maintain a professional manner when representing the company and the estimating team in internal/external meetings.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Building Construction is preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in estimating.
• Experience in luxury construction as well as a variety of other markets.
• Ability to read and understand engineering and architectural drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform detailed, accurate quantity takeoffs.
• Ability to read and understand contracts.
• Familiar with all construction trade divisions and CSI Master Format trade codes.
• Outstanding and professional oral, written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Construction Estimating software
