  • Responsibilities

    Assists physicians, physician assistants, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include preparing treatment rooms for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment.

    General Accountabilities:

    ● Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including at times weight, blood pressure,

    pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.

    ● Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients’ medical records prior to their

    appointment

    ● Secure patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records;

    keeping patient information confidential as required by law.

    ● Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures

    ● Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms

    ● Disinfect, clean rooms following patient examinations and procedures; Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work

    environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; comply with legal regulations.

    ● Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required;

    Properly dispose of contaminated supplies

    ● Keep supplies ready by taking inventory of stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

    ● Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications,

    oxygen, all fluid change, etc.)

    ● Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/ pharmacy calls

    ● Remove sutures, change dressings.

    ● Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.

    ● Interview patients to obtain their medical history.

    ● Record patient medical history, vital statistics, and test results in patient medical files. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

    ● Must be able to stand/walk/ambulate for excess of 20 minutes. Bend, lift, reach or twist as needed to assist in patient care for patients of varying weight, age and mobility. Bend, lift, reach or twist for room preparation, filling of nitrogen canisters, disposal of biomedical waste and general cleaning and sanitation.
