  • Responsibilities

    The Buyer will procure materials, goods and service to ensure operational and customer needs are met.  The buyer will ensure optimal price, quality and supply assurance goals are met and company inventory and financial objectives are achieved.  The buyer will develop understanding of commodities and the economic indicators that impact them.  The buyer will develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and will routinely look for alternative sourcing to ensure competitive pricing and supply continuity.  The buyer will work within the MRP system, to ensure purchasing data and flags are accurate and replenishment strategies match the needs of the business.

     

    Measures of success:

    • Right parts, right time, right price.
    • Cost Savings, utilizing Epicor to bring in the right parts to match inventory goals and all key KPI’s on weekly metrics for new PO’s, Change PO’s and Late PO’s

     

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers
    • Procure materials and non-inventory items to meet operational and customer needs
    • Utilize and maintain ERP system to drive buying activities
    • Track progress of raw materials to ensure on-time delivery to company
    • Identify alternate suppliers for key raw materials to ensure competitive pricing and assurance of supply
    • Ensure procurement practices drive improvements in inventory KPIs
    • Leads & Participates in negotiation activities
    • Assists in data collection and analysis of supplier spend, quality and delivery metrics
    • Collaborates with finance, operations and engineering teams for procurement-related activities

     

    Required:

    • BS in Supply Chain, Business or Operations
    • In lieu of BS requirement, minimum of 3 years of procurement buying experience.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in Procurement and Supply Chain, preferably in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Strong communication skills- particularly verbal and written
    • 3-5 years’ experience in using ERP systems for purchasing – including reviewing purchasing signals, creating PO’s, using open order tools, and other key systemic tools
    • Excellent MS Office Skills
    • Demonstrated ability to drive performance improvements in Supply Chain performance
    • Collaborative approach to improving business performance

    Essential Duties;

     

    • Develop sales strategy on individual opportunities to ensure product, price and customer solution are positioned to win.
    • Interface, collaborate, and challenge Engineering and/or Planning when required, to achieve goals and maximize the sales opportunity. Includes critical thinking and the ability to problem solve to find unique solutions and strategy to win opportunities.
    • Must have a strong understanding of the construction industry from the vantage point of a subcontractor; ability to read project specifications, interpret drawings, understand project requirements stated in the General Conditions and prepare and deliver a fully responsive bid.
    • Must have a strong understanding of the sales process, excel at sales coaching/strategy, building relationships, and closing deals
    • Read architectural specifications, floor plans and drawings to reflect field conditions (rooms) to include mobile system layouts.
    • Maintain sound knowledge and understanding of Spacesaver's full product line (i.e. mobile, shelving, storage, industrial products, etc.) and keep abreast of changes accordingly as they relate to job duties.
    • Ability to learn, understand and utilize on a regular basis Spacesaver’s CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote tool) CRM and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) softwares to support our sales efforts.
    • Must be able to manage a large number of sales opportunities in tandem. Organization and multi-tasking are essential, along with a strong understanding of sales process.
    • Must have confidence to make independent and strategic decisions regarding sales opportunities to ensure proper successful completion.
