  • Responsibilities

    The main job of an intern is to provide support to the main account manager as well as the team as a whole. An intern’s specific job tasks could range from developing and maintaining media lists to researching the market, sector or industry in which the client competes. All materials developed by an intern must be reviewed by an account executive or higher prior to distribution.

     

    General Requirements/Qualifications  Obtaining a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or related industry  Internship experience strongly recommended  Ability to multi-task well and under pressure; excellent attention to detail  Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills  Ability to write and think creatively  Maintain effective working relationships with clients, media and internal staff  Assist with implementation of integrated public relations programs including media relations, social media and events  Highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who exhibits professionalism and tenacity

     

    General Responsibilities Administration and Account Management  Maintain and send client clip books, files and reports (may include copies, assembly, etc.)  Schedule, prepare materials and presentations for, and set-up for client meetings (may include preparing the room, providing for beverages and/or food, or scheduling a Skype Meeting)  Assist the day-to-day account team  Understand client goals and objectives  Become familiar with client, its competitors, and the marketplace, industry or sector in which it competes  Understand concept of billable hours and how it affects company profit and loss  Understand concept of account budgets  Submit timesheets and expense reports on time

     

    Research 

     Investigate client and client-related information for supervisor(s) via internet, online databases, publications, directories, CMI, Factiva searches, etc.

     Conduct media and social media audits  Compile data in a consistent, organized, easy-to-understand fashion  Write research reports to be reviewed by supervisors  Support new business research and logistics with input from supervisors(s)

     

    Client Relations 

     Attend client meetings (as needed)

     Assist the day-to-day account lead (internal) contact

     

    Media Relations, Social Media and Events  Draft news releases, fact sheets, media advisories and other general press materials to be reviewed by supervisor(s)  Write pitch letters to media to be reviewed by supervisor(s)  Coordinate logistics for events with input from supervisor(s)  Maintain social media channels with input from supervisor(s)  Serve as contact for select media  Execute pitch calls to media  Update media and social media lists/databases  May need to be available for occasional off-site events during the workday, evenings, and/or weekends

    • Commitment to working with a diverse population.
    • Able to travel between the Pueblo and Fremont campuses for teaching assignments

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Knowledge of curriculum development
    • Knowledge of classroom and course management
    • Knowledge of student assessment
