Over the last 35 years, we’ve worked hard to build The Chef’s Garden. It’s a unique niche - home to creativity, innovation, a commitment to excellence, and some of the best produce in the world.

What started as a small family farm has grown to include many more people - still family nonetheless. We’re humbled that you’d consider joining us in the work that we do.

We are currently looking for a full-time lettuce flume operator. This position ensures correct operation and monitoring of the lettuce flume and maintains accurate documentation. This job is ideal for people who shudder at the idea of a 9-5 desk job as you’ll regularly be on the move. You’ll need to be able to stand for long periods of time; sit; walk; climb steps, reach with hands and arms; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position is also great for people who prefer sweater weather as our packing room is generally from 38-41 degrees Fahrenheit.

Set up flume line for operation and fill with water and monitor chemicals to the right set points with website screen.

Load totes of lettuce and leafy greens into the flume lines based on demand and in order of priority specified by the Food Safety Manager.

Thoroughly wash product while continuing to monitor chemical status.

On inventory days stack, rotate, label and date all finished product and place in appropriate storage area.

Shut down flume line to include and not be limited to cleaning and sanitizing flume line and other cleaning duties for equipment sanitation.

Light maintenance or cleaning projects in other areas may be assigned on days flume line is not needed or cut short.

At end of shift, fill supplies and equipment and remove trash to dumpster.

Assist in other areas of the Packing Processing plant as needed to help with filling orders for customers which may include but not be limited to washing product, trimming, sorting by size, peeling and packaging.

Cross train and learn the proper procedures for all areas of the Packing Room.

Follow specific Food Safety and HACCP procedures, including, but not limited to, temperature measurements, cleaning schedule and procedures, proper product labeling with lot numbers, tracking of lot numbers for incoming produce

At end of shift, clean work area.

Any and all other duties assigned.

If you’re interested in joining the Chef’s Garden family, please submit your resume or application. We’re excited to talk about the ways you might best fit here on the farm.

Background check and drug test required.
