    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Under direct supervision, performs Non-Destructive Assay (NDA) job functions as assigned by management. Typical job responsibilities assist and support management in ensuring proper completion and documentation of assigned NDA measurements and data reporting/review in accordance with all applicable requirements. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned: 

    • Perform basic NDA measurements and/or prepare data reports or review of reports in accordance to established protocols and procedures
    • Review data reports to determine completeness as originator or peer reviewer following all protocol and operational requirements
    • Document and communicate all NDA measurement and data reporting as required by protocol or procedure and in accordance with managerial direction.
    • Monitor and notify management regarding adverse trends in NDA measurement results, QA/QC trends, equipment operation or related factors; comply with all corrective action procedures as appropriate
    • Set up, operate and calibrate measurement equipment in accordance with protocol and requirements
    • Assists with identifying anomalies and producing NDA measurement data reports for NDA Specialist to review and analyze
    • Assure the measurement element(s) comply with specific policies, procedures and Technical Basis Documents (TBDs)
    • Support both InSitu/Containerized NDA Measurements (to include cascade components and piping) required using NDA measurement equipment
    • May be assigned to special projects
    • Perform duties of general/routine complexity in nature
    • Other job related duties as assigned including: filling Dewars with liquid nitrogen, positioning lifts, pre-job walk down, etc.
    • Maintains knowledge, attends continuing training, and demonstrates the ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner
    • Actively participates in Safety Work Groups

    _WORKING CONDITIONS _

    Work in a D&D atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities) in areas with potential exposure to heavy industrial equipment, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed. 

    Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (the appropriate respiratory protection and other equipment) to enable you to enter all types of potentially radiological hazardous work areas (such as but not limited to radiological, chemical, dust fumes, mists, heat stress factors, etc.). 

    Ability to carry several instruments/equipment or tools (up to 50 lbs.) while walking extensively. Potential prolonged walking/standing, repeated pushing/pulling. 

    Potential for driving or riding in a motor vehicle, machine operation, and/or working around moving equipment/machinery or motorized vehicles (such as but not limited to car, truck, golf cart, gator, scissor lifts, man-lift, or heavy industrial equipment). 

    Ability to work in confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise areas and areas with radiation and chemical hazards. 

    Environmental conditions may include weather or temperature extremes, inclement weather (such as but not limited to wind, rain, excessive heat, excessive cold, snow/ice, etc.) 

    Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 50 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching. 

    Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage. 

    Radiological training will be required and the ability to wear the appropriate respiratory protection.

    Required Experience

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    High School Diploma or GED (ASTM C1490) and 1 year of job related experience (DOE O 426.2)

  • Qualifications

    Complete all basic NDA and site specific training and Qualification Card training 

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

    Knowledge of and experience with NDA measurement equipment, methods, cascade set up and nuclear facility operations 

    Knowledge of and experience with DOE Safety Basis including technical safety requirements, processes and reporting requirements. 

    Attention to detail.
