    Job Description

    Job Description

Come work for an established San Francisco Bay Area IT consulting firm that continues to grow! This is a full time Support Engineer position providing onsite and remote desktop support for over 400 Macs and 100+ PCs.

    Description

This is a dynamic and (dare we say) fun job for anyone who enjoys helping people with tech. Here are some of the characteristics necessary for a successful candidate:

    • Be an excellent communicator first and foremost. You will be the face of the company and must be highly responsive and professional at all times, both internally and externally.
    • Regular communication and collaboration with your team will be part of your daily routine; projects/tasks will be assigned on an ongoing basis by team leaders.
    • You must be able to work independently and remain productive (billable) when unsupervised, which will be a meaningful part of your job.
    • Most daily tasks are generated by our ticketing system; your ability to independently triage what needs to be done for clients will shape your success.
    • You will place the highest priority on resolving issues and tracking tasks through to completion. You must also be excellent at documentation of your work and in maintaining internal client documentation.

    Requirements

    • Between 2 to 3 years of desktop support and troubleshooting
    • Broad understanding of macOS 10.15 – 13
    • Familiarity with iOS and its supported hardware
    • Working knowledge of the Apple suite of software and hardware
    • Knowledge of a variety of 3rd party software (e.g. MS Office, G-Suite, Slack, etc.)
    • Ability to support Windows 7 to 11
    • Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Remote Management & Monitoring (RMM) tools
    • Understanding of local file sharing protocols (e.g. AFP, SMB, FTP, etc.) and cloud based platforms (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc)
    • Understanding of general networking terms and protocols (e.g. WAN, LAN, DHCP, VPN, web based router management, etc.)
    • Ability to configure and manage LAN and Wi-Fi access points for internet access (e.g Unifi and Meraki)
    • Reliable transportation for travel to and from client locations in San Francisco, on the Peninsula, and occasionally in the East Bay (e.g. Walnut Creek)
    • Regular visits to client locations will be required. When not onsite at a client location, you will work remotely
    • After an initial training period, you will be expected to achieve a minimum of 25 hours per week, billable to client accounts

    Additional Info

    • You must have access to a Mac or PC to take a remote Mac focused competency test, but you will be provided a Mac laptop for work
    • Owning your own cables (Ethernet, Thunderbolt, USB 3, etc.) and adapters is a plus

All requirements aside, a good sense of humor and relaxed attitude is a key part of this job. While professionalism is always critical, knowing how to put clients at ease is highly valued. Focus is essential, but a sense of playfulness as we work together will be much appreciated.

Please reply with a cover letter, which should be simple and personal. We want to know who you are, so please be real, not generic. You should also include a resume.

A minimum of 3 references who are available by phone are required. Ideally, at least two should be work references and one should be a personal reference. Because of the sensitive nature of the client information we deal with, all references will be contacted.

Qualified candidates will have an initial phone interview. There will also be a remote Mac skills test which will require you to have access to a Mac or PC. After that, at least one in-person interview will be required. Please note the latter, which obviously requires all candidates to be in the San Francisco Bay Area.

We hope to hear from you soon!
