We provide secure, high-quality language access in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

We are seeking Foochow (also called Fuzhounese, Fuzhou dialect, or Foo Chow) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Foochow is a rare Chinese dialect of the Min Dong language group, spoken in Fuzhou (Fujian Province, China) and diaspora communities, and is frequently required in asylum and immigration interviews.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Foochow (Fuzhounese) ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.

Ensure interpretations are accurate, impartial, and culturally appropriate in immigration, asylum, and legal contexts.

Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.

Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests.

Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Foochow (Fuzhounese) and English.

2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, or government preferred).

Familiarity with Chinese dialect variations (Mandarin and Cantonese knowledge is a plus).

Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, neutrality, and confidentiality.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
