The UpCounty HUB provides food and essentials to families every week living in the Upper Montgomery County Region through safe home deliveries and community distributions. The Social Services department connects families and individuals served by the HUB with available health and human services in a respectfully, culturally sensitive manner. This is an entry-level part-time position.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Upcounty HUB SNAP Food Benefits Coordinator assists families and individuals determine eligibility and facilitates application coordination for a state social services program that supports low-income residents that receive monthly financial assistance toward food purchases. Fluent Spanish speaking is required and applicants that do not specify proficient language capabilities will not be considered.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Complete the SNAP screening tool with families to determine application eligibility
Ø Scan, track, and organize application paperwork
Ø Use the MYMDThink benefits portal to coordinate application submittal
Ø Provide follow up with families to determine approval or denial of application
Ø Facilitate six month and one year reviews for benefits to continue
Ø Contribute to and manage quarterly reporting
Ø Document client referrals and updates in data collection system
Ø Keep all documentation organized and accurate
Ø Refer to caseworkers for additional social services needs
Ø Attend multiple monthly outreach events to increase SNAP application awareness
Ø Register and attend SNAP trainings and meetings to stay on top of policy updates
Ø Maintain stock of resource materials
Ø All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Ø Fluency in Spanish required
Ø High School Diploma/GED, Associates Degree or some years of College preferred
Ø Ability to learn data portal systems to enter and track client data
Ø Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
Ø Effective communication skills; verbal and written.
Ø Superior customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with difficult situations.
Ø Proficiency in MS Office required with strong spreadsheet and analytical skills
Ø Detail oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Ø Superior project management skills and the ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously
