PURCHASING AGENT/BUYER OVERVIEW

The Jr. Buyer/Replenisher will be responsible for developing profitable purchasing strategies, assessing supplier profiles and analyzing offers. Preparing and implementing effective negotiation tactics to buy goods for the business. Have the means and opportunity to raise company profits by making the most high-quality and cost-effective purchases. Have a keen eye for detail and a customer service mindset; and know how to evaluate market conditions and different suppliers.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Responsible for purchasing raw materials for multiple locations.
• Negotiate raw material pricing based on cost objectives, market conditions, and design and cost models.
• Identifies and champions cost reduction projects, including periodic updates for management
• Participate in production meetings.
• Develop and execute a sourcing strategy and metrics that includes detailed timing plans for supplier capacity and multi-source vendor qualification process.
• Manage effective communications with existing and potential suppliers to meet the established cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Effectively directs the supply planning elements for new product introductions and change orders and coordinates the phase out of obsolete ingredients with the launch of new products.
• Works closely with production to ensure on-time delivery by establishing and monitoring schedules to identify and address any issues proactively.
• Sourcing of new materials and vendors.
• Manages supplier approval process.
• Manage supplier monitoring program.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 years of purchasing and sourcing experience in the Food Manufacturing Industry.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills (verbal & written).
• Strong negotiation skills
• High School or Equivalent Preferred
• Experience with MRP systems, Batch Master preferred
• Perishable purchasing experience preferred
• Strong analytical skills-Source Vendors
• Decision-Making Skills
• Computer skills in Microsoft Windows, MS Office, Excel
