Job Summary We are seeking a Food Prep that will be responsible for providing a supportive role to kitchen staff in the preparation of meals and ingredients. Their duties include organizing and labeling food items in storage closets, performing tasks like chopping ingredients and sanitizing their work station during and after service.
Food Preparation Assist in the preparation of food items, such as chopping, slicing, dicing, and marinating ingredients, following established recipes and portion sizes.
Ingredient Management Receive, inspect, and store incoming ingredients, ensuring they meet quality standards and are properly labeled and dated. Assist in inventory control and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste.
Station Setup Set up workstations with necessary equipment, utensils, and ingredients for daily food preparation activities, ensuring all tools are clean and in good working condition.
Recipe Adherence Follow recipes accurately, ensuring consistency in taste, portion sizes, and presentation of food items. Collaborate with the chef or kitchen supervisor to maintain recipe standards.
Sanitation & Safety Adhere to proper food handling and safety procedures, including maintaining personal hygiene, practicing safe knife handling, and following sanitation guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and foodborne illnesses.
Equipment Maintenance Clean and maintain food prep equipment, such as knives, cutting boards, and slicers, ensuring they are in good working order and report any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
Organization & Cleanup Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift, including proper storage of ingredients, labeling of food items, and regular cleaning of work surfaces, equipment, and storage areas.
Quality Control Assist in quality control measures, such as taste testing, checking for freshness, and ensuring the proper temperature and texture of food items before they are sent to the kitchen or serving area.
Communication Collaborate effectively with other team members, including chefs, line cooks, and servers, to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of food preparation tasks. Communicate any concerns or issues to the supervisor.
Efficiency & Time Management Work efficiently to meet production deadlines, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively to ensure timely delivery of food items while maintaining quality standards.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a food preparation role, preferably in a restaurant or food service establishment.
Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation pratices.
Basic understanding of culinary techniques and recipe adherence.
Certification in food handling and safety is preferred.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as a part of a team.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical stamina and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
