Mother Goose Academy, a trusted childcare center serving families in Mayfield, Kentucky for over 55 years, is seeking a Food Program Coordinator / Childcare Cook to join our team.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in food service, cafeteria work, school nutrition programs, childcare centers, restaurants, dietary aide positions, or kitchen management who enjoy preparing meals and working in an environment that supports children’s health and development.

Position Overview
The Food Program Coordinator prepares and serves healthy meals for children while maintaining kitchen organization, food safety standards, and CACFP program compliance. This position also helps support daily operations within the childcare center.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Cooking
Prepare and cook daily meals and snacks for children
Follow nutrition guidelines and CACFP meal requirements
Ensure meals are safe, appealing, and appropriate for young children
Menu Planning
Plan balanced weekly menus that meet nutritional requirements
Adjust meals for allergies and dietary restrictions
Food Purchasing & Inventory
Shop for groceries and kitchen supplies within budget
Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and pantry items
Monitor stock levels and reorder items as needed
Kitchen Organization & Sanitation
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment
Follow proper food safety and sanitation procedures
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
Record Keeping
Track meals served and maintain CACFP documentation
Record meal participation and attendance using Procare software
Team Support
Collaborate with teachers and leadership staff
Assist with classroom coverage for brief teacher breaks when needed
Support a clean and welcoming environment for children and families
Ideal Backgrounds

Qualifications
Experience in food preparation, cooking, or kitchen operations
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Strong organization and time management skills
Ability to work independently while supporting a team environment
Basic computer skills for simple tracking systems
Experience with CACFP or school meal programs is helpful but not required
Certifications
CPR and First Aid preferred
ServSafe certification required within 6 months of employment
Physical Requirements
This is an active role within a childcare environment. Candidates must be able to:
Lift up to 50 pounds
Stand for extended periods
Bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout the center
Work in a kitchen environment while interacting with children and staff
