    Kerr by Ingredion is hiring a Food Scientist to join our growing Technical Services team! The Technical Services Food Scientist is responsible for providing technical support to internal and external customers for a broad range of food applications. This role will assist the Process Engineer, Operations, and Quality teams with new process development while working alongside the Business Development and Technical Service teams to develop innovative ingredients and concepts to showcase formulated systems and blended solutions. In addition, this position's activities will develop benchtop process, conduct scale-up trials, and support production of strategic and customer-driven innovation projects. The Technical Service Food Scientist will have the responsibility for maintaining excellent working relationships across internal departments and Ingredion business units, and will assist the Go-To-Market team to promote functional, value-added ingredient solutions to meet business growth and customer needs.

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical expertise and support to customers for a broad range of food and beverage applications.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the company’s technologies, solutions, and their applications across the food and beverage industry
    • Promote functional, value-added ingredients and recommend solutions by phone/e-mail, face-to-face meetings, presentations, and at trade shows.
    • Form strong internal and external relationships across departments, business units, and with decision makers across the industry
    • Work collaboratively with our Go-To-Market team to provide technical support in recommending solutions to internal and external customers, crafting customer value propositions, and building knowledge to meet goals.
    • Lead technical activities with multiple customer projects to prioritize, develop, and implement the Go-To-Market strategy with sales account managers and working in cross-functional teams.
    • Leading and supporting internal initiatives in support of the company’s business strategies
    • Prepare prototypes for presentations and tradeshows to showcase our new products.
    • Develop clear, concise written instructions for new processes.
    • Prepare samples for internal sensory panel evaluation
    • Work with Procurement to identify new ingredients to meet specifications, cost targets, and internal guidelines for incoming raw materials.
    • Maintain and update project logs in CRM system(s).
    • Support Operations team through pilot trials and commercial production to ensure successful new product launches
    • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized lab area in accordance with Technical Service and Sample Laboratory GMPs.
    • This job will require up to 15% travel for food shows and customer visits.

    Qualified candidates will have:

    • Bachelor’s degree; or technical equivalent related to the field of Food Science, Food Management and/or Food Processing/Manufacturing
    • One (1) to three (3) years experience and/or training in the food industry, or equivalent combination of higher education and work experience
    • Prior lab experience using analytical instrumentation, lab filtration systems, pilot scale equipment, and rotary evaporator
    • Read and comprehend technical instructions, short correspondence, and memos
    • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
    • Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
    • Effectively present information in a one-to-one and small group setting to other employees of the company
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form
    • Proficiency with basic algebra and statistical analysis.
    • Above average organizational skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good individual decision-making skills
    • Ability to motivate self and other members of the Technical Service team to complete deliverables within scope and timeline
