    About Us: My Place Home for the Homeless, Inc. is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on providing comprehensive support to individuals experiencing homelessness. We offer both temporary/emergency housing and permanent supportive housing, along with essential resources such as job training, mental health and medical services, and access to transportation. Our mission is to empower individuals to regain stability and self-sufficiency through compassionate care and community-based solutions.

    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a diligent and experienced Food Service Cook to join our team with a focus on creating a positive dining experience for the residents and guests of My Place Home. This role involves preparing, cooking, and serving food, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment, and ensuring a high level of customer service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Develop effective menus to meet operational needs and service levels

    Prepare menu items in advance according to the intake and events

    Possess the ability to create food items of various dietary preferences

    Restock kitchen for future use

    Maintain stock levels and organization in placing food orders

    Order food, supplies, and equipment to meet operational goals

    Assist in budget development and monitor costs

    Manage food deliveries and stock food items

    Skills & Qualifications:

    Must be ServSafe Certified, either with a Food Handlers’ Certificate or more advanced

    At least 1 year of experience in a commercial kitchen

    Must be able to read, use basic math skills to understand, and follow recipe measurements and proportions

    Constant standing, walking, bending, stretching, and repetitive motions

    Strong customer service skills with professionalism

    Proactive and solution-oriented

    Able to work independently

    This position requires working 3 days a week for 6 hours a day.
