FoodCorps partners with schools and communities to nourish kids’ health, education, and sense of belonging so that every child, in every school, experiences the joy and power of food. Our AmeriCorps members serve alongside educators and school nutrition leaders to provide kids with nourishing meals, food education, and culturally affirming experiences with food that celebrate and nurture the whole child. Building on this direct service, FoodCorps advocates for policy change, grows networks, and develops leaders in service of every kid’s health and wellbeing. Our goal is that by 2030, every child will have access to food education and nourishing food in school!

What We’re Looking For:

FoodCorps seeks motivated and passionate individuals to lead, coach, and support a cohort of 10-14 FoodCorps service members under the guidance of the State Impact and Partnerships Lead. The Program Coordinator will play a vital role in the delivery of high-quality programming statewide by providing training and ongoing coaching to service members and tackling the day-to-day program administration tasks. They will have experience leading teams and be excited to support rising leaders.

This role has a need to be based in the Oakland/Bay Area. Regular statewide and occasional national travel will be required, up to 20%.

Responsibilities:

• Planning and delivering high quality cohort training to equip service members with the knowledge and skills to deliver highest-impact programming that is responsive to their service community’s goals
• Providing ongoing coaching to individual service members based on their strengths and opportunities for growth in order to ensure high quality service and cultivate leadership skills during and after service
• Recruiting, selecting and retaining a strong cohort of service members in the state, with an emphasis on cultivating pipelines of local and BIMPOC candidates
• Elevating service member needs to state and national program staff
• Supporting the FoodCorps State social media pages
• Acting as an outstanding public spokesperson and representative on behalf of FoodCorps through media and events
• Share effective practices across the cohort of other state coordinators

Measures of Success:

By the end of year 1, the Program Coordinator will have:

• Recruited, selected, and onboarded a full cohort of service members in collaboration with the Impact and Partnerships Lead and national staff for the next program year.
• Planned and facilitated two in-person state trainings as well as monthly service member cohort calls that strengthened cohort cohesion while building knowledge and skills for service
• Provided ongoing coaching to each service member in the state both virtually and in-person that supports the delivery of impactful service and individual growth, including a minimum of 2 in-person site visits
• Supported service member retention, providing the necessary resources, coaching and assistance to ensure their successful completion of the service term and fulfillment of programmatic requirements
• Cultivated strong relationships with partner school and site staff members in order to build upon community assets and effectively support school and site-specific goals through service
• Elevated stories of service member and school level impact to contribute to FoodCorps’ organizational learning, communications, and advocacy goals
• Managed towards the accurate and timely submission of all service member reporting requirements, including reflection logs, timesheets, evaluative tools, and expense reports
