    JOB SUMMARY:  

    Our Lifeguards create a fun, welcoming and Christ centered environment while guarding and protecting guests who participate in Forest Home's aquatic recreational offerings. This role maintains cleanliness and safety of all aquatics facilities while providing excellent customer service.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform lifeguard duties in aquatics programs as assigned, which include a lake front and several swimming pools
    • Obtains and maintains Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications
    • Reaches and maintains a level of physical fitness that meets or exceeds the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards (500 meter swim, 10 foot dive and swim with brick, tread water for 3 minutes)
    • Supports and upholds Recreation safety plans and procedures
    • Assures equipment is inspected and maintained
    • Provide excellent and Christ like service to guests and fellow staff
    • Develops and maintains professional relationships within recreation and the various departments at Forest Home
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  

    • Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, and AED  certification, or be willing and  psychically able to be certified
    • Working towards High School diploma or equivalent
    • Prior lifeguard experience preferred
    • Preferred experience in job or ministry that requires guest interaction and service with people of all ages.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate office machines. Requires mild physical work; some lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 20 pounds. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone.

    • Reaches and maintains a level of physical fitness that meets or exceeds the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards (500 meter swim, 10 foot dive and swim with brick, tread water for 3 minutes)
    • Must be comfortable with spending extended periods of time in the sun and periodically entering cold bodies of water. 
    • Requires walking, swimming, and standing for 6-8 hours a day
    • Must be able to complete all in-service training which will include physical exercise of varying degree
