Summary

The Battery Lab intern position involves novice work in the operation, evaluation, and improvement of processes, equipment, methods or products relating to lithium-ion batteries. This work involves supporting the Battery Team with day-to-day operations. It requires application of the knowledge, principles and practices of chemistry and other scientific and engineering disciplines.

Essential Functions

• Follows all SOPs regarding safety, proper PPE, equipment operations, lab procedures and sample processing
• Provides assistance in various functions of the battery laboratory including materials processing, data rendering, and inventory
• Troubleshoots equipment and process issues
• Researches materials and data anomalies
• Maintains a clean and organized workspace
• Updates and maintains laboratory notebooks to ensure conformance to test procedures and specifications
• Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
• Provides general support to Battery Fabrication Lab activities
• Becomes proficient at basic battery-making activities
• Participates in a minimum of monthly meetings to discuss results, updates, troubleshooting, and receive feedback

Experience and Qualifications

• 0-2 years of hands-on experience in lab or research setting ****

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This is an hourly position for the Summer of 2023 ****

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work within a laboratory environment and will be in proximity of chemicals, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Donning proper PPE will be required.

Compensation

• Hourly: $22-24/hr
• 401(k) plan
