We are seeking an experienced Forklift Loader/Unloader with a strong background in food-grade product handling, hazmat loading, documentation, and safety compliance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities Report to work at Granite City, IL M-F 7:00am – 3:30pm
Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to load and unload trailers, containers, and warehouse storage areas.
Perform food-grade loading and unloading in accordance with company and regulatory standards to prevent contamination.
Handle hazardous materials (HAZMAT) in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and company guidelines.
Accurately complete and verify all required documentation, including:
Bill of lading (BOL)
Lot numbers
Product ID and quantity verification
HAZMAT paperwork
Shipping/receiving records
Inspect trailers, pallets, and packaging for damage or contamination.
Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, PPE requirements, and warehouse best practices.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and report issues promptly.
Communicate effectively with shipping, receiving, and quality teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
Assist with inventory counts and rotation as required.
Qualifications
2–5+ years of forklift operating experience in a warehouse or distribution center.
Experience working with food-grade products and understanding of sanitation requirements.
Proven HAZMAT handling and documentation experience (certification preferred).
Strong attention to detail, especially with lot numbers, product tracking, and paperwork accuracy.
Ability to read and interpret shipping documents and safety data sheets (SDS).
Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and OSHA regulations.
High school degree, or equivalent
Must be able to pass a background check
Must be able to pass a drug test to operate heavy machinery
Must be able to pass a respirator fitness test and maintain that fitness
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment and work in environments where food-grade and chemical products are handled
Maintain valid driver’s license
