  • Responsibilities

    The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the forklift. For stacking material, loading and unloading trailers, and movement of Gaylord Containers, Super Sacs, equipment parts, supplies, etc. efficiently and safely. Operators will also be responsible for safely operating other rolling equipment when trained and qualified.

    The Forklift Operator is also responsible for accurate record keeping and documentation of inbound loads, and outbound loads, and making decisions on raw goods quality. Operators will also be responsible for using computers, printers, tablets, and paperwork to create accurate recordings of all logistics processes.

    • Responsible for organizing material in the warehouse.
    • Responsible for loading and unloading trailers safely and efficiently.
    • Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company Policy to ensure windows, lights, and mirrors are clean, and equipment is in proper operating condition.
    • Responsible for loading products in super sacks or gaylord boxes for safe movement and storage.
    • Coordinates with supervisor to empty full containers and trash bins throughout the day in and around the facility.
    • Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize downtime.
    • Understands, follows, and enforces all established safety, health, quality, and good manufacturing practices policies, and procedures.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management or as apparent.
    • Responsible for operating computers, printers, tablets, banders, and docking equipment.
    • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
    • Maintain a clean work environment by helping to sweep floors and keeping the outdoor plant environment clean.
    • Accurately recording inventory, product grading, product packaging, and packing lists.

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • Minimum of 1 year of prior related experience in forklift operation at a site regulated by OSHA.
    • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.
    • Good follow-through ability: ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise.
    • Ability to adhere to Company Policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company’s safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks.
    • Must complete and pass OSHA’s requirements for forklift certification (powered industrial truck) training as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.178.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Well organized with focused attention to detail.

    Work Environment, Schedule, and Physical Demands:

    The work environment is on the plant floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud and we do expect members to wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) including hearing protection while on the plant floor and other required areas.

    • Effectively handle lifting or various objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Strength and agility to move the folks and lift the loads.
    • Ability to maintain good balance while operating the machine.
    • Excellent hand-eye coordination.

    Frequently required to; stand, climb stairs, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl; work near moving mechanical parts; work around fumes/airborne particles, work in high, precarious places; exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather); exposure to outside weather conditions.

    Continually required to: sit, stand, talk, or hear; utilize hand and finger dexterity; utilize close and distance vision; utilize hand-eye coordination, color vision, and peripheral vision; depth perception; ability with spatial relationships and ability to adjust focus.
