  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    • Coordinates total nursing care for critically ill patients, averaging in age from 57-70 years.  
    • The primary PATIENT POPULATION SERVED MEDICAL-SURGICAL ICU WITH NEURO PATIENTS.  
    • Participates in inpatient/family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. 
    • Participates in organizational and unit-based quality improvement activities. 
    • Is able to provide mentorship and guidance to new employees.

     

    SCHEDULE: FULLTIME -NIGHT SHIFT WITH ROTATING WEEKENDS /  3-12HR SHIFTS

     LICENSURE/ CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

     Minimum:   CA RN, BCLS, ACLS, NIHSS Stroke

     EDUCATION:

     Minimum:   High School Graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum: 1 YEAR OF CRITICAL CARE experience MEDICAL-SURGICAL ICU with Neuro experience ( Neuro preferred)

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

     This is a very high acuity ICU with a mixture of MEDICAL-SURGICAL, NEURO, and cardiac patients with multiple comorbidities (very sick patient population) -You may be required to provide care for patients with any of the below listed clinical specialty needs.

    1. Comprehensive stroke Center-EVD ICP experience and knowledge of taking care of stroke patients with post-stroke intervention experience.

    2. Open heart experience helpful.

    4 .CRRT, Balloon pumps, Impella experience beneficial as we frequently manage patients with these medical devices.

    1. This is a very fast-paced ICU.

     QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

     Minimum:  Ability to use critical thinking skills and prioritize aspects of patient care; possesses good interpersonal communication skills. Is able to calculate medication dosages and safely administer medications within the critical care setting.

     SPECIAL NOTES:

    • 20 Beds for Medical-Surgical/Neuro ICU - 17 Beds for CVICU.

    • This is a fast-paced environment must be able to adjust well to change and multitask.

    • The culture of the facility/unit is with a diverse staff with seasoned nurses and new grads.

    •  MUST HAVE CRITICAL CARE EXPERIENCE - NEURO IS PREFERRED.

    •  WILL ACCEPT PENDING CA LICENSE.
