Tuffy’s Treats, Inc., seeks a Formulation Specialist in Delano, MN, to develop, validate, improve and maintain formulas using Concept 5 using compiled criteria from formulas/bags/ingredient statements while meeting AAFCO requirements and customer needs. Specifically, the position:

1. Maintains Concept 5 current ingredient costs (monthly), nutrient profile (quarterly and/or semi-annually) and specifications based on new ingredients or external quality analysis.
2. Creates and maintains various spreadsheets and databases (i.e. Ingredient Requirements based on product yield and tons, formula costs, etc.).
3. Works with outside consultants and customers on new and existing formula development.
4. Assists in various departments as needed.
5. Meets regularly with Quality, Procurement, Production and Sales Departments to check on progress, scope of projects, and/or concerns.
6. Assists the R&D Formulation Specialist as needed.

Requires minimum bachelor’s degree in Food Science or agriculture and industrial engineering or closely related degree or foreign equivalent and at least 2 years of combined experience in: pet food industry; formulation process developing product formula design; formulation software (Concept 5) and Excel to create formulas; physics and food science to retort production and laboratory analysis application; pet food marketing; and maintaining pet food regulatory agency standards to maintain quality.
