CNC Programmer - Aerospace
Job Description
The Programmer will review customer blueprints, CAD models, design/create CAM programs for 3,4,5 Axis Mills. Also needs to verify and optimize the CNC programs, design work fixtures as needed. Programmers will interpret customer blueprints, provide timing analysis for quotation and create programs for complex parts utilizing software (MasterCam 2017, CATIA V5/V4, Volumill 7 and Vericut).
Qualifications
Tool and fixture design and implementation
Engineering and customer-furnished document interpretation
Numerical control programming and control
Check part models for conformity to specified dimensions and tolerances. Recognize improper machine functioning or cutting tool action and take corrective action.
Analyzes operational data submitted by engineers, or when so directed, utilizes documented standard data as it applies to organize machine operational methods.
Aligns and translates operations, tooling identification, indexing sequences, speeds and feeds to conform to prescribed engineering data.
Prepares instructions for machine operators. Make good set-up sheets.
Documents and establishes standards and modifies, adjusts, and corrects existing standards to incorporate engineering changes.
Supports operators with fact finding and troubleshooting methods. Work well with machinists.
Communicates with all necessary departments to assure the most economical manufacturing process per the Company’s current capabilities and procedures.
Organizes, daily, the CNC Protected programming files for proper retrieval and retention.
Demonstrates knowledge of and maintains compliance with customer specifications as well as internal policies and procedures.
Will work with the Engineering Department in the development of part programs. coordinate tooling design and production part programs with the Program Manager, Shop Personnel and Quality Department.
Utilize machine tool simulation to detect all machine components for near-misses and collisions.
Improve total cycle times using high-speed continuous motion program.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 5 + years’ experience programming in Mastercam. CATIA a PLUS
