NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 5 years experience in network technology and configuration in a large organizational environment, and appropriate certification in the field (i.e. CCNA, MCSE, or similar).
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology
JOB GOAL: Install, support, and manage the networks and computer systems that keep information flowing. Implement and maintain network hardware and software, troubleshoot network problems, and ensure network security, availability & performance standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; design router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
- Evaluate network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; define network policies and procedures; establish connections and firewalls.
- Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshoot network problems; escalate problems to vendor.
- Secure network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintain documentation.
- Upgrade network by conferring with vendors; develop, test, evaluate, and install enhancements.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related problems encountered by administrative end-users of District equipment.
- Oversee direct management of all physical network equipment (switches and routers), wireless infrastructure, firewalls, content filtering services, and other services as appropriate.
- Train end-users in various software applications and network-related procedures.
- Conduct preventive maintenance of all network components.
- Develop and maintain a plan of network equipment security, upgrades, and replacements.
- Work closely with Director of Technology Services to plan and budget future hardware and software deployments, network designs, and upgrades.
- Develop a method to determine the quality of service to all building locations, and use that data to improve the existing infrastructure.
- Assist with the development and implementation of technology education to all staff.
- Effectively communicate, in both verbal and written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed.
- Possess a valid driver’s license to travel between district buildings as necessary.
- Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Assist in the management of District Technology security goals, and participate as a member of the District IT Security Team.
- Accomplish organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
