    Job Description

     

    The Regional Purchasing Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Purchasing will be responsible for steel, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals, and find more profitable suppliers.

     

    Forterra Building Products is seeking 2 Purchasing Managers. The Regional Purchasing Manager, reporting to the Vice President of Purchasing, will lead purchasing and supply management activities for multiple areas of spend within assigned Region(s) with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, supplanted with year-over-year productivity improvements to reduce the total cost of goods and services procured while maintaining or improving product quality and vendor service levels. This position will work closely with key stakeholders to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.

     

    Forterra is a leading manufacturer of pipe and products in the U.S. and Eastern Canada for a variety of water-related infrastructure applications, including water transmission, distribution and drainage.     ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

    • Lead Regional cross-functional teams for key commodities such as Capex related purchases, services, high dollar/volume purchases, local raw materials, etc.

    • Lead Regional implementation of Corporate Strategic Sourcing initiatives

    • Lead National cross-functional teams for select commodities

    • Develop Regional purchasing strategy that incorporates both the Corporate Sourcing Strategy and aspects unique to the locale

    • Oversee the process to select and manage suppliers

    • Consolidate and coordinate material requirements where plants are purchasing similar materials, in smaller quantities

    • Measure and track internal performance within each spend category

    • Monitor strategy implementation

    • Drive annual productivity improvements in each spend category

    • Develop an expertise in the respective key Category Groups

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Understanding of key spend areas within the Concrete Products industry
    • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
    • Interest in market dynamics along with business acumen
    • Negotiation and networking experience
    • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
    • Solid judgement and decision-making skills
    • Strong leadership capabilities
    • High moral compass
    • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
    • 5+ years strategic purchasing or business experience preferred
