Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Formulate feeds and develop feeding programs for broilers in CA, LA, and PNW (including organic broilers), pullets and breeders in CA, CO and AR, along with meat Turkeys (also organic), turkey candidates and breeders for maximum profit through optimum performance in growth rate, energy and feed efficiencies, high yields and lower costs of feed for hatching eggs, chicks and poults.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Feed formulation for broilers, turkeys, pullets and breeders
Field Testing and data analyses in Live Production and feed mills for both broilers and turkeys
Conduct research projects
Ensure quality control procedures and enforcement are being followed
Comply with government regulations and assist with maintaining compliance with FISMA, FDA, and other regulatory requirements and agencies.
Serve as Animal Welfare Officer
Attend and represent at industry education and training functions both in and out of state.
Qualifications
PhD in poultry Nutrition
3-5 years' experience with both broilers and turkeys preferred
Have the ability to comprehend the impact of various factors and their interrelationships on bird performance and profit margin then apply them to the field practice
Ability to work with various department team members
Ability to do some overnight travel
