PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Purchasing Agent’s primary role is to manage the value across our direct supply chain by driving innovation, cost savings, cash, supply assurance, supplier diversity, sustainability, and stewardship & governance for the purchase and delivery of needed by the business in an efficient and cost effective manner. S/he is to provide knowledge of the assigned spend and process and develop the appropriate supplier base in conjunction with Sourcing Managers and Internal Customers. The Purchasing Agent is to drive business value by analyzing markets and identifying trends and opportunities, and participate as a critical member of a cross-functional team. Individuals in this position will demonstrate effective working relationships with internal and external business partners, be asked to competitively bid purchases, to identify and deliver cost reduction as well as contribute to process efficiency. Purchasing Agent will be required to create sourcing strategies that sustainably improve the value of materials, establish and maintain assigned spend in SAP, consistent with company goals and specifications for quality and timeliness. Purchasing Agents are a key team member to ensure supply continuity and drive total value.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Analyze spend, source, bid, negotiate, make commitments, maintain SAP records for assigned responsibilities and support operations. Establish purchases of direct materials.
Detailed analysis and interpretation of all data maintained, including but not limited to spend, categories, suppliers, purchase orders, bids, and other transactions or analysis as required.
Support and deliver continuous improvement opportunities related to assigned buy space, procure to pay process, or other responsibilities
Maintain Contracts, Databases, Information records, or Source Lists.
Other tasks as assigned by the Purchasing Manager or Director
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BS Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related required
Demonstrated analytical skills with statistics, plus report writing skills required
Five to seven years of Direct Material purchasing and supply chain with knowledge of ingredients and packaging.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (emphasizing spreadsheets, presentations, & data bases)
Act decisively with a sense of urgency, but able to collaborate and build alignment
Must be a “self-starter” comfortable working independently on multiple projects simultaneously
Capable of prioritizing, meeting deadlines, and delivering results
Requires demonstrated communication skills, clear articulate speech, good listening skills and the ability to generate clear, concise written documentation.
Have the ability to influence through indirect authority is essential.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Five-seven year’s experience in Sourcing Direct Materials and Supply Chain
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have reliable transportation
Must be able to obtain CA driver’s license
Must be able to have consistent attendance in the Livingston, or other assigned Foster Farms’ office(s)
Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Must be able to drive to various company and vendor locations
Must be able to work on the computer for long periods of time
