Job Description

The purpose of this position is to drive sustainability across Foster Farms organization and to apply corporate initiatives throughout the company. The Sustainability Manager must have a clear understanding of all issues related to product life-cycle, corporate sustainability practices, and sustainability trends. The Manager will establish sustainability strategies for Foster Farms and coordinate across functions to drive improvement in corporate performance and communicate to external and internal stakeholders. Individual will provide engineering support and conduct activities related to short- and long-term infrastructure planning and capital improvement projects and maintenance operations. Works with suppliers and internal customers to analyze, design and complete facility projects and maintenance activities. Individual will be expected to plan, manage and execute projects in a timely manner and consistent with stakeholders’ expectations. Individual develops and recommends facility process improvements and sustainability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tools. Researches technologies related to facilities and shares learning with others. Essential functions for this position include but are not limited to the following:

• Develop and implement Foster Farms Sustainability Strategy
• Research, Develop, recommend and oversee implementation of sustainability projects
• Develop Corporate Sustainability Reporting System and Maintain Sustainability Scorecard
• Educate and communicate company sustainability programs internally, to customers and public in coordination with Marketing & PR.  Develop Sustainability PR Campaign internal and externally

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. MBA/Master’s degree strongly preferred 
• 5+ years of sustainability experience required in developing and executing corporate sustainability programs and green design.  (in manufacturing preferred)
• 3+ years of business development and communications experience developing marketing materials and sales collateral development experience.
• Demonstrated ability in Benchmarking, reporting and proposal writing experience 
• Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in our industry preferred
• In-depth understanding of corporate responsibility and sustainability practices 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively engage with and present to all levels of management and external stake holders.
• Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word 
• Must be able to occasionally travel overnight
• Must have reliable transportation and valid CA Drivers License
• Must have consistent and reliable attendance
